Terms of Service

Toldie has two kinds of user. Senders are founders updating the investors in their company, and fund managers updating the limited partners in their fund. Readers are the investors and limited partners, family offices among them, who receive those updates. These terms use the two words that way.

The service

Toldie sends founders and fund managers a weekly question and forwards approved answers to the investors or limited partners who opted in. You are responsible for the content of your updates.

Acceptable use

Only invite people who have a relationship with your company or fund. No spam, no purchased lists, no misleading content. We may suspend accounts that generate bounces or complaints. Sending pauses while a reader's report of a sender is reviewed, or while another sender on your email domain confirms you are a teammate. Each company or fund starts with 25 reader seats.

Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. You grant Toldie a license to store, format and deliver it to your subscribers.

Drafts and approval

Toldie drafts updates with a language model from what you wrote. Drafts can be wrong. You review every draft and nothing reaches your investors or limited partners until you send it, or until the auto-send window you turned on in Settings has passed. You are responsible for what goes out under your name.

Updates to limited partners

If you update the limited partners in a fund, you remain responsible for what your fund's documents and the rules that apply to you require of those communications, including confidentiality and how performance is presented. Each update's link can be forwarded by whoever holds it; the note on it asking readers to forward it only as the fund's agreements allow is a request, not a control.

Your account

Sign-in links and codes are personal and single use. Keep the email account you signed up with secure; anyone who can read it can act as you on Toldie. Tell us at once if you think that has happened.

Data, security and privacy

How we store, encrypt, retain and delete data is described in the Privacy Policy, including where data lives, encryption in transit and at rest, access control, retention periods, and how deletion works. Those descriptions are part of these terms.

Availability and liability

Toldie is provided as is. We are not liable for missed or delayed emails or for decisions made based on updates. Liability is limited to fees paid in the prior twelve months.

Termination

You may delete your company or fund at any time from Settings. We may terminate accounts that violate these terms.
